Almost done

After taking my pictures and beginning to put the pieces of the puzzle together, I am very proud of what my magazine is coming out to look like. I have still not finished writing my double page spread or my table of contents but I have the layout of the double page spread already set up as well as the images placed, based on how much I think I am going to write. I am having trouble deciding on how I should spread out the information for my double page spread, I was thinking into 4 or 5 different sub topics, rather than one whole piece of text on one large topic. For example, instead of doing tailored fashion in the summer and talking about how to dress overall, I was thinking it would be better to separate it into specific sub topics like jackets, undershirts, shoes, and accessories.

Today I finally got to shoot my images. For my cover page I stuck to the glossy background with the model at the center of the page. As my article for my double page spread is about the fashion along the summer season, I decided to take my images for the double page spread outside in a sunny, summer-like environment: With the pictures finalized I can finally finish putting my magazine together, and continue with the completion of the content of my double page spread as well as my table of contents.

Feedback session #2

Today in class we had the final feedback discussion  before the due date of the project. I gained reassurance from it because I felt like I was extremely behind but it turns out I just need to catch up on shooting my pictures. I was having trouble thinking of a background to use for my cover image, and where I wanted to take it. My group brought up some examples of other magazines and presented them to me, and I decided that my background should be plain, but with a glossy touch. Colors like white, grey, and black are all good colors to use, depending on the color of what the model will be wearing. I also asked more about the double page spread and what I should talk about. I stated my idea that I mentioned in a blog post and the group liked it but they also gave me the idea of doing the article on a certain season. For example, “How to dress for the summer” which is not a bad idea, but I feel like it wouldn’t apply to my genre, but I am going to keep it in consideration.

Content

This week I will be working on the table of contents and just the overall build of the magazine content. I will also be shooting my cover page photos within the next two days and this following weekend I am going to be shooting the double page spread photos. With this said I hope to finish the content of my two page spread and the table of contents by the time I am done shooting all my photos. This is so that I can piece my magazine together all at once, and have more time after to edit and tweak it. My article for the double page spread will explain, and provide information on the genre, and go further into the fashion trend itself, more specifically, tailored clothing.

Double page spread

After really thinking about what I could possibly do my double page spread on, I decided that I am going to do "The latest in mens high-end fashion". What I intend to talk about, and the message I intend to carry out will be about how to keep up and stay within the current fashion trend, and on the specifics of the actual articles of clothing, like shoes, single/double breasted, gray/navy, etc. What I intend to due, is to let the audience know how they can be like everyone else within the fashion trend, but then also how they can add their unique style to their outfits.      When talking about high-end fashion, tailored clothing is the main focus under that category. I will focus on the suits, ties, shoes, and other accessories within this category for my double page spread. This is the most common form of high-end fashion as it is so practical for everyday life and necessary for not only special events, but also for work, or any sort of elegant even...

Spring break

Spring break was a huge set back in the production of my magazine, in the sense that I failed to keep up with a lot of the things necessary for my magazine. Although I did get a few things done, I was not able to go accordingly with my shooting schedule. My cover magazine model left town for spring break and my other model was not able to plan accordingly. With this said, I have rescheduled shooting dates. The model for my cover page is coming back into town and I have already made plans to shoot with him either April 2nd or April 3rd, whichever of the two days are more available. And for my other model, as of now, our plan is to shoot between April 6th and 8th.      Although it may seem like I am cutting it really close to the deadline by taking the pictures 1-2 weeks before the due date, I am going to work extremely hard on completing the entire content of the magazine before taking the pictures. This is so that by the time that I have taken the pictures...
