Moving forward

For the work on my magazine I decided to use canva.com as my website for magazine production because I went through it and I seem to really understand the tools the website provides. As I began to look through through the fonts for the title of my magazine, I looked up multiple Men’s high-fashion magazines like Vogue, Numeró, and QC, and noticed that they’re all displayed in a large, but simple font, that’s most of the time very sharp. I decided that I would apply this to my magazine as I want everything in my magazine to satisfy my genre’s target audience.

     Many of the more “serious” magazine examples that I was looking it at used a lot of different image filters like black and white, and other darker filters on the cover image. I decided that I should apply the same thing to my magazine, as I want it too look more mature and high-end. With this said I began to think about a magazine title but I have not been able to come up with anything. I want something short but serious, a mature word or two that is powerful in meaning, but I have not been able to think about anything and I feel like this will be one of the most difficult personal challenges to overcome as this has happened to me before in other projects.

Feedback session #2

Today in class we had the final feedback discussion  before the due date of the project. I gained reassurance from it because I felt like I was extremely behind but it turns out I just need to catch up on shooting my pictures. I was having trouble thinking of a background to use for my cover image, and where I wanted to take it. My group brought up some examples of other magazines and presented them to me, and I decided that my background should be plain, but with a glossy touch. Colors like white, grey, and black are all good colors to use, depending on the color of what the model will be wearing. I also asked more about the double page spread and what I should talk about. I stated my idea that I mentioned in a blog post and the group liked it but they also gave me the idea of doing the article on a certain season. For example, “How to dress for the summer” which is not a bad idea, but I feel like it wouldn’t apply to my genre, but I am going to keep it in consideration.

Double page spread

     After really thinking about what I could possibly do my double page spread on, I decided that I am going to do "The latest in mens high-end fashion". What I intend to talk about, and the message I intend to carry out will be about how to keep up and stay within the current fashion trend, and on the specifics of the actual articles of clothing, like shoes, single/double breasted, gray/navy, etc. What I intend to due, is to let the audience know how they can be like everyone else within the fashion trend, but then also how they can add their unique style to their outfits.      When talking about high-end fashion, tailored clothing is the main focus under that category. I will focus on the suits, ties, shoes, and other accessories within this category for my double page spread.
